‣ What to do in this Step
Assign your character’s First Talent and choose 2 Innate Talents from among any of the options listed. Note these choices on their Character Sheet.
‣ How Characteristics define a Character
The two Innate Talents chosen at first level can drastically change how a character functions, setting them apart from all others. For example, the right Innates can allow a character to use their Strength to cast spells, or use their Insight to wield martial weapons.
‣ What to do Next
Once you have assigned your character’s Foundational Talents, move on to the next step, setting their major Target Scores→.

It is a pattern that all adventurers that prove capable of surviving the Dark have something special about them — something about their nature or abilities that differentiates them from common folk. The most important of these abilities are described as a unique combination of strengths or quirks simply titled their “Characteristics” — these abilities enable them to reach heights that others cannot.
Every Character starts with 2 Innate Talents (or ‘Innates’), powerful and rare qualities shared by few other people on Tera. At character creation, these can be chosen from among any of the options listed (though they have been sorted into broad categories). At higher levels, opportunities may be available to choose additional Innates from this list along with more specialized, exclusive options.
Note: While Innate Talents are all categorized as Martial, General or Mystic, this is for ease-of-reading purposes only — all Innate Talents are considered to be of the Innate Domain, meaning you can choose any of the available options without worrying about how it affects your future Class.

Guidance - How to Choose Innate Talents
When first playing Paths to Eternity, the benefits of many of the offered Innate Talents will be difficult to understand without prior experience. For that reason, when making their first choices, Players are encouraged to go by ‘feel’ rather than getting caught up in the details. Consider which of your Attributes are highest, and lean into those as your strengths — alternatively, choose Innates which offer simple and obvious benefits (such as Incredible Speed or Armored History).
